Ecological Concerns

To optimise your travel footprint, we recommend that you stay a few more days in the Cape or in South Africa. It will be our pleasure to advise and assist you with you planning. Moreover, we invite you to offset your carbon footprint using the My Climate Foundation.

Dive Level

A valid diving certification (CMAS or PADI) is required to take part in scuba diving activities. However, you do not have to be a qualified and certified scuba diver to observe the Sharks as snorkelling and surface observations will be possible. However, you must have a diving qualification to dive in the Two Oceans Aquarium and for the Kelp and Sharks excursion.

Transport

This trip has been designed to minimise transportation, however this expedition requires a large car or minibus depending on the number of participants.

Food

South Africa is recognised for its remarkable food and wines - particularly those made from Chardonnay and Pinotage varieties. The traditional ‘braai’, the South African version of the barbecue, will allow

you discover delicious and succulent meat dishes and in addition a variety of fish. The diversity of dishes springing from different cultures together with varied fresh vegetables and fruits and local African specialities will rival any foodie experience anywhere in the world. Michael has ensured that the meals are an integral part of this itinerary.

Suggested packing list

Cape winter storms, accompanied by strong rain and powerful wind, are common during the southern winter months. Temperatures will vary between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius, and it is necessary to dress well and adequately for excursion both on land and on sea. The weather conditions can change very quickly and adequate clothing is essential.
